COVID-19 Trucking Update

April 6, 2020

Good evening,

We hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy during these extraordinary times. We know that many of you have implemented work from home policies for office personnel in order to promote social distancing within your organizations. Your team at Translogistics wants to assure you that we are fully operational, working from home, and here to help with both your domestic and international logistics needs.  Many of you have contacted us to provide special instructions for carriers picking up or dropping off freight at your facilities.  We ask that you continue to keep us informed of any operational changes that affect your supply chains.

Trucking Company Update:

While we'd love to tell you that the trucking companies have experienced no service disruptions, this has not been the case as of late. Trucking companies remain operational for making pickups and deliveries in most every area of the country however over the past week we have experienced more and more transit delays, especially in the LTL networks. This has been a result of the carriers needing to shut down certain terminals for cleaning efforts after potential COVID-19 cases and exposures. The carriers are doing everything they can to provide you with the best service levels during this difficult time, while also protecting their employees and their families. Even now more than ever, if a shipment is urgent and must deliver within a certain window it is critical to let the TLI team know up front, to ensure we can guarantee or expedite the freight accordingly. LTL service levels across the board are just not where they were prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On the truckload and intermodal sides, we have experienced no major delays as a result of the virus. Carriers are being proactive trying to ensure shippers and receivers are operational to load and unload their cargo. It's important that you give TLI as much notice as possible on these types of shipments, so we can make the proper booking arrangements with the carriers. On the international front, air freight rates continue to climb almost daily as availability on many lanes has become extremely limited. Many shippers are competing for the exact same space and airline bookings.

As always, please rely on your team at Translogsitics as a resource and an extension of your business. We are here to help in any way we can throughout this difficult and unique situation. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us anytime!
